All about me
Hey I'm spencer. I like all different kinds of music but in general i like rock and specfically classic rock. Bands like the stones or the beetles to name a few. I dont like most wanna be rockers, you either are one or you are not. of the modern bands, i got to say my favorite has to be wilco. they are just awsome to me and i saw them i concert and they kick major ass. i also saw radiohead and i liked them before but now i got to respect them. they are all just extremely talented musicians. most modern bands out there right now that im into were because my brothers were into them. they have good taste in music and i follow them. i was never very good when i was younger at choosing what kink of i liked. i think the first album i ever bought was big willy style by will smith. i have no idea what i was i thinking. i got a lot of flack for that from my brothers ad deservedly so too. the earliest band i can remember listening to was the beetles, but sadly at a young age i grew tired of them at least for a time. my dad would play it all the time it seemed until i was seven. after that, i can remember rolling stones coming into the picture a bit. the earliest song of theirs i remember isnt even theirs; it was like a rolling stone by bob dylan. after that point of my life, the music gets a little fuzzy. this was the time of boy bands and Brittany Spears. its about two years of my life that the only music i can remember of the time was them. i don't even like them. I just felt like no one else existed during that time. Personally, i think this was the lowest point in music in years. Luckily, i discovered bands like Led Zeppelin that got me out of that point of life. it felt like at the time after the teen pop had already been around for a few years that there was no good music being made. Hip hop quickly became big at this time, or at least the version of it as it is now did. I don't get it. Honestly, how can i relate to them. they either taking about being in the ghetto or about how much shit they have. I don't have a lot of shit; I'm not having huge parties where half naked chicks are dancing in money and i don't have chains weighting down my neck. I don't know what happened to music and it still happening to it. Genres collided creating a hip hop, pop, rap, and rock monstrosity. Personally, the only good music, except the occasional good songs from hip hop, is found in non-mainstream. Well, i guess that's my choice in area in music

Hi Spencer. Welcome to the class...and to the world of blogging!
You're lucky to have brothers with good taste in music. I depend on some friends (and my students) for new music recommendations. Sounds like I need to listen to some Wilco. I tend to like "alt rock" too.
For me, the low point in music was the '80s. Disco and glam rock - boo hiss!
